Went back again recently, the beer selection is still great, they had an ESB on tap! Might keep going just for that, it was perfect. They also were supporting local artist, which I love to see! The staff this visit were incredibly kind and engaging. I was wearing a shirt from a brewery in NC that the beertender had been to! We had a nice little chat.
Really liked this place, the beer was good, service was great. The outside space is nice and well covered for a hot day. Liked that they had free pretzels for snacks!

Great selections of beers and nice outdoor seating to enjoy the rotating pop-up food trucks. Start with a flight if you’ve never been cause you’ll fall in love with their selection. IPA’s and Sours are my favorite but you’ll find pilsners and more to quench your thirst. Order a Presidio IPA with a Bacon Jam Burger from Rude Boys Pop Up next time they pop up at At Ease Brewing … (Man! That was an Amazing Combo!) This brewery has jumped towards the top of my list of favorites in the Sacramento area.

Kicking myself for not coming sooner. Located on the north western edge of Midtown, great venue for beer. Limited indoor seating but a nice covered patio. Staff state heaters are available during colder weather.

The beer? I'm a German fan; however, there excellent Pilsner, something that's hard to pull off, highlights their brewing skill. Next beer was a Hefeweizen. Hef nose but solid banana notes with a hint of cloves. No skunky yeasty taste. My sample of the Red Ale was solid as well. So the brewer knows how to brew!

Free hard pretzels for munchies, plus snacks for purchase. Check ahead if it's OK to bring outside food, but if there is a food truck, you should skip outside food.

Super friendly bartender. Knowledgeable and helpful. We had a stout and an ESB. Both were okay. The variety on tap is not to my taste. I wished for wheat or European white beer options. Or ambers or Bohemian style dark beers. The only two I was interested in were the two we got, so I'll maybe come back in a few months when more kegs rotate. For food options I saw a menu with pizza but I didn't see anyone eating pizza. Idk how I feel about the furry faux (?) animal skins. Clean bathrooms. Nice long tables and dining space but the bit between that fromt room and the bathrooms could be improved.

Absolutely delicious, unique beers that stand out in a sea of breweries that seem to only want to highlight hoppy beers. The space is inviting, yet almost too big. The service is attentive and helps you focus on the beer as an art. The beer is getting back to the traditional roots of it all, lagers, and elevating them in a California setting. Geithaus Brewing Company is a hidden gem in Sacramento’s beer scene. I came for the vibes and stayed for the Fog Lair—a hazy pale lager that completely exceeded expectations. It’s perfectly hoppy and crisp, with a smooth, juicy finish that balances coconut, pineapple, and just a hint of lime.

The staff are laid-back and friendly, and the outdoor seating was ideal for a warm May afternoon. Chill atmosphere, great music, and even better beer. Definitely grabbing a 4-pack to go. This place is doing it right.

This place has been many places before. They put some work into it. Their ipa is good. I had the 6 minute pour and watched them fill 3 pints up at the same time. So that's a scam. Their service was mediocre at best. I would say they it for sure. Always support a local business. But I don't see them getting any better. That's my opinion so go see for yourself.

We decided to hold our wedding at Bike Dog's East Sac location in their party room and had a blast! The owners were easy to work with and all of the staff was friendly and helpful with a big shout-out to our bartender Frandy!

Bike Dog took over this location in late 2024, so the room was not remodeled yet, but it worked perfectly for our 40 person wedding and reception. We had plenty of room for our ceremony at the far end of the room, dining in the middle, and a dance floor at the near end. There is also a bar area where our private bartender set up. Of course, the beer was outstanding as it always is with Bike Dog!

We could not have been happier with our decision to hold our event here. Thank you so much Raef and Sage!

Have been here a few times with friends and will definitely keep coming back. Great lowkey spot to hang out and have some drinks outdoors. A good amount of seating considering how busy it gets, they have some games like hack sack, heaters for when it’s cold and shade covers for when it’s hot or drizzling.

The staff have always been nice and friendly when I’ve been. They answer questions about the drinks on tap and will give samples so you can get a drink you like. The food is also tasty, I’ve had the pretzel and garlic fries. The garlic fries are a must! Their pomegranate cider is my favorite currently but I’ll be trying more from their extensive menu.

Super nice Biergarten in a really convenient area, right in midtown near a bunch of other food and drink spots and small shops.

Counter service. Paulaner on tap (yay!) and friendly service. Two pints of beer $19.02 before tip. Food looks decent, but you have to be hungry. The portions look big. Long wait to get seated. There was a seating area outside that has a food truck and a bar with only 4 beers on tap and wine. Once seated inside, the bar has a lot more choices, maybe around 30. Came here for an event and it was packed! Seems like this is a popular place to go to for a drink and to hang out with friends. Didn't take too long for me to get served and despite the amount of people the staff were very nice.

It's a hidden gem! Im here as I write this review on Sunday night and I still a cool crowd of about 15 tucked in the back bar area. I had a "Lead Dog" #15 Orange Wheat Hazy Weizen Beer. It was light and not harshly bitter, for those of you who are Novice beer drinkers like myself. The tender did allow me to try a small taste to see if I liked it, which I did!! Best spot for a beer in the Sacramento area by far. The locals as well as the staff are very welcoming.  One of the better tap lists around and plenty of beer to go.

I drove from Phoenix to Sacramento and the first thing I wanted to do was have a beer before checking in and wow did New Glory Craft Brewery deliver! Outstanding is the only word I can use to describe this brewery.  Staff were helpful and friendly, and the beer, excellent.  I was trying a couple of samples of what they had on tap, when I got to Golden Bell, I said "there's not need to try the rest that is a winner".  They also have the most approachable sour beers out there.

New Glory brewery is one of my favorite breweries. Their gummy worm beer is my go-to beer. It's packed with a citrus punch and a bite at the end. This time I added another favorite to my list, Half Baked. It's a yummy, brownie imperial Stout. The Beertender was helpful and knowledgeable. New Glory has the biggest selection of beers I've seen at a brewery. There's something to please everyone. The building is set in an industrial setting, but the front seating area makes it feel like you're in a park. I would recommend a food truck be available for customers. Great selection of beer here and all are delicious. While they don't serve food in the brewery, there are often food trucks. I've visited a few times and have always had a good time here. (Update) Love this brewery. The Party Cloud IPA is amazing.  But they also some other really good IPAs.  The Saison is also really good. The atmosphere is really chill and there was lots of seating.  They have 30+ beers on tap!  The beertenders are laid back and cool.  It’s also dog friendly!

“Where is this place anyway?”

I made the mistake of trying to tip 3 times and was graciously denied with a smile on their faces each time. “FINE!!!” I said. Nice group of devoted employees.

We sat for a small party outside. Drinks and food were brought out to our table/s swiftly and professionally. Really good food too. Bar food of sorts, but good bar food. The deep-dish pizzas were tasty. The only drawback to a rather 5-start review was their asparagus yet  flavorful and beautifully displayed was wayyyy overcooked and very mushy. All the other food ordered was fine.

Nice place. I don’t remember finding anything that said Touchstone except the glass, and the name was on every glass. What I saw was various names of various climbing, beer drinking, bar or climbing gym equipment whatever names. It took us 15 minutes to find “Touchstone”. Everything outside said Pintworks, Pipeworks or whatever . . . Just be careful if you don’t pull into the correct place, another block behind is a very condensed homeless population. Kinda spooky when not expecting it.

Touchstone is a hidden gem! I finally made it out to this spot and everything was excellent. The ambience with the fires and overhead lighting outside and the heaters were perfect for the cold night. The food was excellent and so fast. We got the spicy chicken sandwich, the margarita pizza with a side of ranch, and Brussels sprouts. Everything was delicious. I ordered a hazy ipa and took some cans home it was so good. The staff were all so friendly and welcoming. I can’t want to go back and try more.

Like another review said, it is in a real sketchy area, with tent lined sidewalks and homeless people wandering outside the gated premises.   But don't let that deter you.  The property and parking lot are fence enclosed, so don't worry.   There is plenty of indoor and outdoor seating.  The staff are polite , helpful , and welcoming.   The beer selection is great in number and styles.  There beer is well crafted.  What I liked most is access and parking.  No driving around in circles to find parking.

The Real Deal is Urban Roots Brewery & Smokehouse which delivers on outstanding BBQ flavors and fun atmosphere!

Firstoff, let’s begin with the service which was good, but the wait to be able to order took a long time on a Saturday lunch. The wait after ordering took a bit as well. I would be prepared during a lunch or dinner be there for a bit. I have to say the rest is worth the wait.

Second, the atmosphere and vibe are outstanding. Rustic looks and lots of seating inside and outside, seating for large groups. The decor fits the bbq world, lots of fun, and meat education.

Thirdly and lastly, the Food, Yes!!! The bbq here is outstanding, full of flavor, beers are amazing, huge variety of beers and family style foods and single plates as well! I didn’t get time to rate everything so I will update this on the next go around! I will be back with an update I hope so!! Must try!!!

I came here for lunch one day while in town for business meetings.  I got the 1/4 Tri-Tip meal with "Burnt end beans" and a "Winter salad" as my sides.  I had asked for the meat well done and lean, I got well done but it could have been leaner.  The 1/4 pound is two strips of meat and I ended up losing a solid portion to fat.

Aside from that, the meat tasted fantastic.  Their BBQ sauces were delicious, the soda machine had great better for you options, and the sides were fantastic.  I'm very picky with beans, I usually do not like them at 90% of the places I go, but these were fantastic and they had pieces of meat in with them.

I paid about $20 for lunch, which is a little on the high side, especially given the portion of meat.  I did not have any of their beer as I had to drive right after and they had mostly IPAs and few if any beers that I would drink.

I ate inside.  The atmosphere was great and the music was fantastic.  It looked like they had a private room and maybe even tours of their facility.

Best ribs and collard greens I’ve had in a long time. Solid burger and great beer selection as well! Friendly staff and lots of outdoor seating too. Can’t wait to go back!

I've been to Urban Roots many times.  I've always enjoyed my food.  My favorites are the fried fish plate and the brisket.  I stopped in to place a to-go order.  My family wants good-sized portions and I shared this with the gentleman who took my order.  I paid a hefty $178 to feed a family of 4.  Needless to say, when I got home I was very disappointed (see pics).  I probably would have saved money if I bought individual plates.  This order was a trial because I told them I wanted to use their catering for 4th of July.  While I was there waiting for my food I sent an email to the catering department. I have not received a response but based on the amount of food we received a catering order would be out of the question. Hooray for patio bike parking! Clean bathroom. The fish in the fish taco was nice. The salsa was very vinegar. Onion rings great but dont come with any sauce. Also, I know it's common these days, but why are beers in every brewery are often half IPAs? So we ordered four that weren't for our tasting. I liked 2 out of 5 (the hazy ironically and the porter). The ordering process was a bit disjointed; I didn't understand the line and choosing the beers and paying all in separate places. Somehow felt cramped up there for such a huge room. Pleasant to sit outside so overall not bad. Best to go on a Monday or Tuesday and get the promo pints for $5.

Stopped in to kill some time waiting for a friend. Was very pleasantly surprised by their extensive IPA list. I got a flight and the bartender let me sample a few extra. All very good!! Definitely check them out if you’re a fan of IPAs. They had a lot of other styles too but I didn’t try those.

One of Sacramento’s must visit breweries. A gem in Old Northern Sac where you can always expect great food, drinks, and vibes for locals.

My ultimate recommendation: get the elote pizza and La Xingona beer. Trivia night on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Games always playing on the TVs on game nights.

Plenty of IPAs to choose from if you like IPAs. They were out of several others when I went. I’m sad I didn’t get to try the sour since I don’t like IPAs. Steer clear of the hard seltzer. It tasted like dirt.

The atmosphere inside was nice and modern. But lock your doors before going in. The area is rough and the parking is terrible. I don’t suggest parking on the side streets.

I went here with several co-workers for a work holiday gathering and it is just about a block down the street from the famous Gunther's ice cream on Franklin boulevard. This restaurant is nestled in a very quaint and charming Curtis Park neighborhood. The food is not bad. I ordered the meatball sandwich and it comes with a side salad. It was a good, decent portion and was tasty. They have a large outdoor dining area with outdoor heaters. They also have indoor dining too. They had a really good selection of beer and wine.

The Hop Garden is an easy spot to walk past—but don’t make that mistake. It’s a 10/10 place to hang out. The pizza is absolutely amazing, the beer is ice-cold, and the vibe is just right. I definitely need to go back and try more of their incredible pizzas.

Disappointed by the Manager’s Attitude

Our first visit was ruined by the manager’s rude behavior. We asked for a chicken dish without the blueberry sauce for a child, and instead of helping, he said they couldn’t make a new one because they’d “lose money.” He refused a refund and made us buy another meal just to get it customized. Servers were great, but the manager’s lack of understanding and professionalism left a bad impression. Won’t be coming back.

We loved the atmosphere and food here. We came for weekend brunch. I had the loaded tater tots and my husband had the breakfast burrito. We appreciated that they had a vegetarian protein option (soyrizo).  I wish they had coffee as well. Heard they usually do but not when we were there. In the Tallac village you will find this hidden gem. Bar staff were knowledgeable about their beers and offered one of the tastiest stouts I’ve ever had. The Mole tacos were absolutely delicious. I’m picky with sweet mole sauces, but this one was not sweet at all. Three stouts in I had forgotten to take a picture of it ☺️

There is large outdoor patio seating. Two flatscreens. The decor is contemporary with some natural finishes. Clean place and the bathrooms were also clean and stocked.

Overall good vibes and friendly folks in a relaxed atmosphere. Would definitely return!

Amazing beers and food! They have a large selection of brews, including seltzers, and their apps and pizzas are really tasty. Very kid and pet friendly and staff are very friendly and service is excellent. Fantastic beer, comfortable atmosphere with friendly land park and midtown locals and excellent staff. Also very dog friendly! If you haven't stopped by and tried New Helvetia beer lately it's worth a second try, their craft has changed, evolved and improved dramatically in the last year and a half. It used to be one of my favorite spots to being the pup cause of the comfortable laid back neighborhood atmosphere but these days the beer quality and decent prices are right up there for reasons to keep coming back. About half the days of the week they have food trucks parked out front or in the back area and most of the local restaurants will hand deliver next door if you call in and ask them too. It's also family friendly so kids welcome. Looking forward to going in later this week for a pint.

As I walked in attempting to dust off the chill of the day I was met with warmth, but not only that in the way of temperature. The smell in the air was that of beer brewing mixing with the smell of a bar that we all know and love. It wasn't just smells that were in the air that night but also sounds. There were orders being taken in haisty tones, seriously serious sounding hushed conversations, laughter here and snorts there, salutations being delivered some happy others sad, and possibly a gulp or two. An environment dynamic as this one I have only read about in books... As I was completely immersed in my surroundings I was pleasantly surprised when my beer arrived, then my next, and then my next. New Helvetia fires on all cylinders and im pretty sure there's at least twelve of them. Having gone to and enjoyed many breweries, calling this one my favorite is a monumental accomplishment. Great red beer. Great wheat beer. Great pale ale (not pictured) what more do you want? Fast service and a bar? Free Wifi? Yeah, they got it. A food truck? Over the weekend, we visited Alaro Craft Brewery, Restaurant & Cocktail Bar in Sacramento while seeing a family member. This restaurant opened in June 2018, taking over the old Rubicon Brewing Company site. The founders, Ray and Annette Ballestero, wanted to honor the brewery's history while creating something new.

When we arrived in the late afternoon, a nice breeze made it feel pleasant outside, but we chose to sit inside since it was less crowded. After a short wait for a non-reserved table, we were seated in a well-designed space with a lovely long bar.

Alaro offers Spanish-inspired tapas and classic pub food, paired with craft beers, wines, and cocktails. The head brewer, Chris Keeton, focuses on classic styles, and their Castillo IPA even won a gold medal at the 2018 Great American Beer Festival.

My companions started with two signature Margaritas, and I tried their special Maria Robust Porter and a shot of mezcal. Everyone was happy with their drinks.

For food, we had Patatas Bravas, fried Asparagus, and the soup of the day. Everything was well-prepared and tasty, especially the soup. Since we aren't big eaters, we couldn't try the main courses this time, but we plan to return soon.

The service was professional and attentive, adding to our positive experience. Alaro uses locally sourced ingredients, which really enhances the food. I also learned that "Alaro" reflects Ray Ballestero's family heritage, showing their commitment to community and tradition. If you're in the area, I recommend giving them a try!

Very much just a brewery-bar with bar food. I had the good fish and great tarter, but just meh chips/fries.  Others had an OK burger, some OK Brussels and OK octopus. The reason I say OK was because there was zero “hey, try this” at our table of eight. One person left in the middle to go walk the street fair.

So much for family/friends reunions.

Just ok food,  and a nice bar anyways. Music seemed to be hit or miss, loud not loud. Service was very substandard from our server that forgot basically everything, including bringing us waters and had to be asked twice for the departing checks.

Alaro: the backup plan that delivered.

We rolled in last minute, no reservation, no plan—wine in hand from our first-choice spot. I hadn’t even done my usual vegetarian menu sleuthing. Honestly? I expected to settle. But surprise surprise, this place delivered.

The menu has range. Vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, meat-lovers—everyone’s invited and no one’s stuck with a sad side salad. We love an inclusive queen.

Didn’t try the beer because, again, wine. But the food? Came in hot. It’s refined pub classics with a little tapas flair. Fried pickles. Onion dip. A grilled cheese that was crispy, golden, and somehow not a grease bomb. Add the grilled onions. Seriously. Just do it.

There’s a freshness here that a lot of places in this category miss. It doesn’t feel heavy or overdone—it feels like someone in the kitchen actually cares.

The service? Super friendly and clearly knew the menu. But yes, we had to ask for flatware. Multiple times. Which, when your food’s already on the table? A little chaotic.

Still—flavor wins. The vibe’s solid. I came in with low expectations and left thinking about what I want to try next.

The food and drinks were good. Had a flight of their beers, all brewed in-house and all were great. However, what really stood out was the service! The lady that sat us whom I’m guessing is management or the owner was very welcoming. She asked us what brings us in and we told her with were in for a concert and she puts on a song from the band which we though was very sweet! Our sever was very nice as well. Been here a handful of time now and have always been pleased! The beer is great, the service is amazing. Food is pretty decent too. They have a nice outdoor seating area as well as seats inside with lots of fans. Great place to grab a beer in any weather.
Parking is street parking, but we've never had any issues getting a parking spot. There are like 2 spots in a tiny little lot, but I always just plan to part on the street out front.

Also, they have this little food truck in back called lions hot dog shack and I’ve tried quite a few of the items, all have been good, super tots and pizza dog I absolutely loved! I love the whole atmosphere here. Limited indoor seating, the outside is huge and is a covered picnic table style seating, plus corn hole and some other games they set up. Parking is easiest right on the street on 24th as the parking lot holds like three vehicles. They have daily specials that are good deals as well. A couple tvs inside usually playing some sports. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. I highly recommend checking out this locally owned brewery! Traveled from Portland to visit family in Sacramento and got to stop by Fountainhead Brewing Co. I truly believe this is a hidden gem that folks NEED to experience. The vibe was fantastic & family friendly with plenty of things to keep everyone occupied. But let me be clear… their IPA’s are top shelf. The Acoustic Endeavor 7% IPA is downright stellar and immensely underrated! I give it a solid 4.25 / 5 rating. I’m bringing up multiple crowlers to share with my beer enthusiast friends.
