This is an amazing tour! An absolute must if you are visiting Boston or even if you live there already! Jimbo is fun, friendly and very knowledgeable of both the history of Boston and of Americas history. It felt more like hanging out with an old friend showing you where they live instead of being “on a tour”. If you want some great pizza, to hang out with some cool people and learn a lot of great history- this is the tour for you! He also has other cool tours on his website!

Book the tour!! This was the highlight of our ladies 40th birthday trip!  We had a blast.  We learned a lot in a fun way, had a beer and ate amazing pizza. Did this tour last summer, and forgot this review.  Came across this tour by accident and thought it looked interesting. Ended up being one of the highlights of our trip. The host, Anthony is a gem! Knows the area (he was raised there) and is a great story teller and funny! Make sure you read what the tour is and is about, as I don't think this is for everyone. It is politically incorrect and some of the content my rub some the wrong way. And DO NOT eat before you go. The food stops are fantastic and the portions are nice sized considering the number of stops. If you enjoy, good food, good stories, and politically incorrect humor, this is for you. Had a wonderful time with Anthony/Flash as our tour guide, a true local to North End Boston. Hearing stories from someone who lived through the growth and transformation of North End was unique and interesting, to say the least.

Like others have mentioned, go into this with an empty stomach as you will be filled with great food from local spots with storied histories. The arancini and affogato were my personal favorites from the tour.

This was a fantastic tour given by Anthony. I loved the fact that Anthony was born here and grew up here. He shared some great personal stories of growing up, as well as some of the history of the area and the changes that took place over time.

I can't stress this enough...please don't eat much before this tour! I consider myself a good eater and by the time we finished, I was stuffed like a Manicotti!

Just relax, have fun and enjoy this unique opportunity to take in the North End and all the flavors: the interesting styles of the older buildings, the heavenly smells of Parmesan and Romano cheese from Umberto's, the silkiness of gelato mixed with espresso, and the warm personalities of the residents. My husband and I did the tour a few days ago and we are still talking about the lemon ice, Italian sub, and pizza. Anthony was a fantastic tour guide with so many great stories about growing up in the North End and the people there. He's quite a character, a little crude, but also hilarious, and you can tell he loves the neighborhood and the food. There were 25 people on our tour, which we feared would be too big, but Anthony managed it well, calling ahead to our next stop to inform them of the size of the group and what he wanted. Some of the stops were short and we ate outside on the sidewalk or in a park, while others were longer and allowed some time to sit, enjoy a glass of wine, and get to know our fellow tour-goers. Overall, we thought it was very well paced and planned, and made for a very entertaining and enjoyable afternoon. Thanks for showing us around, Anthony!

My friend and I were visiting from Minnesota and took Anthony's Politically Incorrect tour. We had such a blast! Anthony is very charismatic (he may not like that word) and knowledgeable. We loved all of his stories. He really is a local and well connected with the community. That is easy to see. The food was all delicious and perfectly portioned. This beer is amazing. They have a flight tasting for $15 and I highly recommend it if you’ve never had their beer before. The peach mango was some of the best I’ve ever had, but all of them were really good. I actually ordered some to be shipped back home from their website. We haven’t tried their pop-up, which seems to be across the parking lot, but we may soon. It’s also a nice walk from the Hyatt Regency.

Had a bit of an adventure getting there. I wouldn't advise walking in the area after dark if you can avoid it (location is towards the back of a shipyard and was relatively isolated - HOWEVER I did go in February, and most people don't walk around at night in February to begin with). When we arrived there weren't any signs outside except for a piece of paper taped to the wall indicating the main entrance (door was open). I included a picture of the do not enter sign that unfortunately wasn't there when we showed up. I was elected to journey forth into the partially darkened warehouse until I found a very confused looking employee who very kindly showed me and my friends to the right place and put up the sign.

The bar had a one flight per person per day policy, which makes sense to me since supervising drunk people surrounded by heavy, working machinery sounds like a nightmare. The cider itself was delicious, and there was a flavor for everyone.

My only suggestion is to please add more signage outside! My friends and I did think there was a 50-75% chance that we'd end up on a law and order SVU episode up until we were actually in the taproom.

The downeast cider house has a lot of fun flavors available, which some neat exclusive ones! While we were limited to one main flight each, Ellen gave excellent service and made the visit incredibly enjoyable! Especially on a holiday. Would stop by again for a quick treat!

A group of us sweaty hikers showed up on Saturday, July 27 in the early afternoon and had an awesome time. The beer menu is top-notch — I highly recommend the home-brewed Dunkelweizen on tap! We were especially excited to support the first Latino-owned brewery in Massachusetts, and it did not disappoint.

The bar food was fantastic and culturally authentic — the sweet corn with chorizo was a standout. The space is massive, located in an industrial area but easy to find with lots of signage. There’s both indoor and outdoor seating available, making it a great hangout spot for any weather.

Not sure if it’s dog-friendly, but it’s definitely one of the highest-quality brewery experiences around Boston. Also, note that a 20% gratuity is automatically included, so no need to tip extra.

Not sure why the owner thinks that a wrong number was put in. Never said anything about that in my review.  We did get an alert that the food was ready but it came after we already left the restaurant.

Found out the service charge is a built in tip that you are paying for fast food service because you are: not seated, no one comes to a table and takes an order, serves food, plates food or even boxes food for take-out.

Very telling in the owner response that nothing was said about a kid who was in a dress and young enough to be in diapers sitting on a food counter. So according to you the health department gave you an “A” for allowing that? So I guess I will add the pic of the kid standing on the counter since you are being dismissive.

The reason why the cook was  asked to remake the pizza was because of the unsanitary conditions. Food that others including kids have been talking or reaching over.

You mentioned if adults want a child-free experience they can sit in the mezzanine but it is up a bunch of stairs and is not accessible for all adults.

Very disappointing. Won’t be back.This brewery is really for parents and little kids…not adults.

Staff seemed nice and dessert churros were good. The $18 personal size chorizo pizza was not good at all.

1. Lots of kids running around, screaming, playing, rolling on the floor. One side looked like a kid’s daycare. Of course being little kids with little parental supervision any adults can forget about a turn at any of the games.

2. No sneeze guard where food is placed for pickup so people are talking over your food. Parents are entertaining their kids by holding them up to watch the cooks so who knows what is dropping on the food.

3. Parent put kid young enough to still be in diapers that had been rolling on the dirty floor on the food counter. Then the kid stood up on the food counter. Not safe for the kid either if they grab at the hot food.

4. You order online in the restaurant and are charged a service charge whatever that is and can also add a tip. Wanted to tip the cook but  was told I could not tip anyone in cash.

5.  There are no waitstaff and you have to pick up your food, plate it and box it too if you are taking it home.

Gorgeous taproom with a huge side are with games that you can have functions in. The outside is very nice and dog friendly.  There's a good variety of styles available and the ones we had were excellently done.

They have some tasty roasted corn as bar snacks, gratis and they have a nice kitchen that makes empanadas and pizzas and some other things. We had the empanadas and they were delicious.

Very good beer. It’s a Peruvian style which was new to me but I liked it. They had a couple of IPAs and a variety of other styles which was nice. I did not get any food but I was very tempted as it looked really good. They also gave out little stone bowls of complimentary seasoned corn (I do not know the style of corn but it looked like a peanut and was crunchy). They had an upper deck/floor that was 21+ which I always appreciate, plus it was a cool view over the main floor. One complaint I have is that it was poor acoustics and it was very loud.

I really wanted to like this place… First off I do want to say that the service from the bartender was top notch and she made me feel extremely welcome. The location is also nice although a bit small.

This was a well-conducted tour of the original Samuel Adams brewery. It seems to be part of the neighborhood, as it is set in a residential area. Christina conducted our tour, and was very knowledgeable, leading our group through the beer making process and the history of the Boston Beer Company. While this brewery doesn't brew a large portion of what's out in the market now, it's where their R&D is done, making their location THE place to try some of Samuel Adams' innovative brews. Well worth the time of you're visiting Boston!

We had a wonderful experience hosting our daughter’s baptism celebration at Night Shift! The space was perfect—our guests were so impressed with the setup and the excellent beer selection, and the specialty sodas were a huge hit with our nieces and nephews (we may have hit the minimum on root beer alone!).

Brittany, the event manager, was great to work with—super responsive and helpful throughout the planning process. Caleb was also fantastic onsite—he had everything set up and ready to go, and made things especially easy for my parents. Reserving a spot for them made a big difference, and they were so appreciative.

This brewery just off the 93 in Braintree is a wonderful treat in this area with so many other well known big craft breweries. They just celebrated their 7th anniversary and based on the quality and selection they will be around a very long time. I have been in this area 2-3 times a year for the last 5 years and somehow (embarrassed to say) this was my first visit. They have some wonderfully reviewed beers on UnTappd and for very good reason. They have a very spacious tap room as well as a very nice outdoor space, and a very large selection of beers on tap . The beers stand on their own and a well crafted and delicious. Make a stop if you are traveling into or out of Boston on 93 or 95. You will not disappointed. Dogs are welcomed and the industrial warehouse is truly inviting inside.

Another superb local craft brewery just outside of Boston.
An industrial-chic space is enlivened with murals, giving a welcoming feeling. They have a selection of beers that could suit any palate. Among their merchandise is a cooler with cans that can be purchased to-go. A seasonal patio is located out front, and it's dog-friendly. There are metal water bowls that can be filled for furry friends as pet parents enjoy their drinks.
This location has parking available for patrons, making it easily accessible. While there are some snacks available for purchase, a local food vendor set up tables as we were leaving, so there's probably a rotation of visiting food vendors.
I highly recommend Idle Hands when looking for another terrific craft brewery to visit in Eastern Massachusetts.

I came for dinner, no food by 7pm. I dined on "nothing" tonight. Turns out, they were out of everything. The ribs was so bland, it achieved a zen-like state of non-flavor almost like air. Great beer, even better community—from the beerhall-reminiscent Taproom to local pop-up food offerings to hosting community events. Another review said Idle Hands makes beers that were ‘just right’ and someone else put it even better that ‘It isn’t possible to speak highly enough about Idle Hands.’ This is all true.

As a regular I might be biased, but I also wouldn’t be a regular if Idle Hands didn’t have 1. Great beer 2. Knowledgeable, smart staff and 3. An environment that is welcoming and makes me feel safe. I can come alone as a woman and sit at the bar reading undisturbed, watch the Pats game, or just strike up a conversation with friendly strangers. Idle Hands is all good vibes.

In addition to their excellent beer selection (and Spindrift), they host local pop-up food offerings as well as events, so there really is a sense of community bringing people together. Their patio is dog-friendly, they have games (including shuffleboard inside), and they’re overall a space where anyone will feel welcome, whether solo crossword enthusiast, family with infant hoping for no fuss, group event, or woman reading a book at a bar.

Really nice local brewery! Very friendly service and a nice variety of tasty beers. I really enjoyed the blond breakfast stout. My favorite thing is that they have an outdoor patio! I love this place- the staff is incredible, the beers are creative while accessible to all kinds of drinkers (the Root Beer is a secret gem!), and it's my go-to place to get some friends together to play a board game on a Sunday afternoon. Great selection of beers! Downside parking and no onsite food options. To be fair they have cheese nips and chips but it’s not a daycare. Highly recommend you partner with a food truck or offer basic appetizer -  the foot traffic will pickup. Plus you can’t safely serve beer without food unless you’re okay with the customer just having 1-2 beers tops.  We attempted to order from a “local” place from the stack of menu they had but not knowing the area we selected it from a location that was 20 minutes away on foot. We were there for the NCAA women’s basketball tournament and the bartender even acknowledged the crowd was much less than the previous year. Maybe my favorite coffee shop of all time (and I really love coffee shops). Their drip coffee is phenomenal and their espresso is delicious as well. This weekend we stumbled upon Lamplighter Brewing Company in Cambridge. It has a welcoming and hipster vibe. Really enjoyed seeing the pride flag at the bar— felt like a safe space for all.

The Cambridge location is busy around the time we went, which was around noon on a Saturday. There is lots of seating in the front but also in the back which is a little more quiet.

The setup is a little confusing for ordering though. There's one big line for food and coffee, but you don’t need to wait in that line to order beers. I wish we knew that because we didn’t see any signage to indicate where to order what. We also saw a lot of people sitting at the bar eating and drinking coffee, so it took a little bit to find a spot at the bar just to have a drink. I think the bar should be reserved for those looking to have a beer.

A positive though is that the beer tasty— light and refreshing. I thought some of the flavors were really creative. For example, I tried the Chrysalis which I believe had notes of jasmine and honey.

Overall would definitely come here again and try their food and coffee next time!

Lamplighter Brewing was a must-visit on my recent trip to Boston—and it far exceeded expectations. The vibe is exactly what you want in a brewery: laid-back, stylish, and welcoming.

The beers? Phenomenal. Well Spoke is a standout German Pilsner—light and crushable but packed with flavor, not watery at all. Solstice Summer Ale was another highlight—refreshing and easy to drink without being heavy.

Bonus points for the attached Pepita café, which offers great food and coffee options. All this in a beautiful part of Cambridge, making it the perfect stop on a relaxed stroll through the neighborhood.

Just stopped in the afternoon for a cappuccino to do some work. There was plenty of seating, outlets, and free wifi (have to ask for the PW). My favorite neighborhood spot! Beer is great, there are usually 6-8 on tap plus additional options in cans. The new food menu is phenomenal, nutritious and bursting with fun fresh Mediterranean flavors. My personal favorites are the chicken wrap, the salads with falafel, and the breakfast burrito with chicken sausage. It's also a cafe, and the coffee is the best around, in my opinion. You can pick up some beans for the home too, they come from an excellent local roaster. Last but certainly not least, the staff here is absolutely wonderful! You must do the 1-hour cruise around Boston harbor - amazing views of the ships, airport, ferries, USS Constitution / Bunker Hill and sites of the freedom trail. The guide gave a good and interesting history lesson about the harbor. Sitting on the top deck was a truly amazing time. I chose to take a sunset Cruise with the Boston harbor City cruises while I was visiting Boston.  It was definitely a highlight of my trip.

For starters, being able to sit down at the end of the day and enjoy watching the sunset while cruising was nice as I definitely walked quite a bit more sightseeing than I do on an average day in my life.

The boat was nice. It was large but not too big. There is an indoor area with tables and chairs and a bar where you can get drinks and food.

You could also go out onto the decks outside and enjoy the outside air. We did not spend much time on the outside decks as it was a bit chilly on the day that we were visiting.

The boat sales smoothly through the Boston Bay harbor and shows you all around. There were a couple times that they made announcements on the loudspeakers to let you know about a different site of interest that we were passing. They even make sure they're near a ship that fires a Canon every night at 7:00 p.m.

The overall experience was very nice and relaxing and a great way to end a day of sightseeing. 10/10 I would do it again.

Went on a whale watching tour with Boston Harbor City Cruises out to Stellwagen Bank. We saw a few humpback whales which was quite impressive. The marine biologists on board are very knowledgeable and provide a wealth of information. Special attention is paid not to interfere with the whales' activities! I had a fabulous time on the whale watching tour.  So much whale action!  It was really fun and educational.   This type of trip is a great way to motivate people to make environmentally sound choices with their lives, like recycling and composting.   The staff did a perfect job.

I would give this tour 5 stars if they offered food scrap composting on the boat, which Boston has city wide service for food scrap composting.    The signage in the recycling could also be better.   I'd be happy to change my rating if they brought their practices into better alignment with their values.

Friends and I went to their Christmas pop up bar. It's a cute idea and the decorations were great. You buy a ticket for an hour and a half reservation.
We ordered a few appetizers which were all good, the cinnamon pretzels were Amazing! We got a drink ticket per person with holiday themed drinks. The sangria was good, friends who ordered the cider weren't crazy about it.
It's a little overwhelming when you first get there and the seating is like a "fend for yourself" system. They do announce when it's time for the different reservation times to leave but it's pretty much on the honor system.
The thing that really disappointed me is they do not serve, sell or have the Santa boot glasses or any themed glasses like their advertisement showed.
It was a good experience. Lots of people were dressed up in their Christmas finest, ugly sweaters etc. I wish we thought to do that. 🎄

What a great spot! I’ve been multiple times with friends and it’s a great spot to hangout with plenty of space both inside and outside. Really great beer with tons of options for everyone. Oh my god, was this place AMAZING!! As a queer person, this place made me feel so seen and heard. Democracy Brewing has been on my brewery list for years, and it absolutely lived up to the hype. The vibe is super cool and distinctly Boston—laid-back but full of character. I tried a flight of lagers along with a hazy IPA, and everything was solid. The IPA, in particular, was a standout—super citrusy in the best way possible.

The biggest surprise? The teriyaki bowl. It was killer. Flavor-packed and totally unexpected from a brewery kitchen. Would love to see it served with rice next time, but still a win.
